The Board of Certification (BOC) is pleased to announce its 2024 volunteer service award winners: Debbie Bradney, DPE, ATC, ACSM-EC – Dan Libera Service Award; Ron Walker, EdD, LAT, ATC \u2013 Dan Libera Service Award; and Marsha Grant Ford, PhD, ATC – Paul Grace BOC Leadership Award. All of this year\u2019s award recipients are dedicated BOC volunteers, leaders and contributors to the athletic training profession.<\/p>\n
The Dan Libera Service Award, which recognizes individuals for their dedication to the mission of the BOC was awarded to both Bradney and Walker. Award winner Bradney embodies service to the profession at the local, District III and national levels. She has contributed to the athletic training profession serving in roles with the National Athletic Trainers\u2019 Association (NATA), the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), as well as the BOC.\u00a0 Bradney has shown dedication to the BOC\u2019s Examination Development Committee (EDC) with 12 years of service, along with 14 years of work as a home study reviewer and three years as an exam item writer.<\/p>\n
Recipient Walker began his service to the BOC nearly thirty years ago as an exam model in 1996.\u00a0 Since then, he has been actively engaged in continuous service directly to the BOC. From his start as an exam model, to serving over 15 years on the Athletic Training Regulatory Conference Advisory Panel, to now serving on the International Committee, Walker has a long and dedicated tenure of commitment and service to the BOC, participating in leadership positions at all levels within the athletic training profession.<\/p>\n
The Paul Grace BOC Leadership Award honors individuals who demonstrate strong vision, leadership, friendship and mentoring abilities that help cultivate future BOC leaders and programs. Recipient, Grant-Ford has made long-standing contributions to the BOC, serving as an examiner, exam writer, IDEAS task force and committee member, cultural sensitivity panel and other special projects over the last 40 years.\u00a0She has shown what it means to be a trailblazer in the profession, advocating for diversity, publishing the first children\u2019s book on athletic training, and playing an instrumental role in developing the principles and methodology for educating athletic training students.<\/p>\n
