The BOC Self-Assessment Exam (SAE) is a valuable study tool available to candidates preparing for the BOC exam. While the SAE is a useful study tool, it\u2019s crucial to understand that its content\u2014like that of the BOC certification exam\u2014must not be discussed among candidates or with educators. Below we take a closer look at the SAE and how to use it effectively.<\/p>\n

What is the SAE?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The BOC provides the SAE in two formats: Study and Test modes. Each exam features 80 questions that reflect the types of questions found on the BOC certification exam. These include multiple-choice, multi-select, drag-and-drop, hot spot and focused testlets.<\/p>\n

Can the SAE be used to study for the BOC exam?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The BOC encourages candidates to use the SAE as an individual study resource. Although other study tools can help assess knowledge and pinpoint areas for improvement, the BOC SAE is uniquely designed to simulate the format and style of the actual certification exam. It helps candidates become comfortable with the exam structure, enhancing their confidence and readiness. When used as intended, the SAE is an effective resource for preparing for the BOC exam.<\/p>\n

Is the BOC SAE required? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Taking the BOC SAE is optional and not a prerequisite for the BOC exam. While the self-assessment exams cover content areas like those on the actual BOC exam, none of the questions will appear on a future exam. Additionally, a candidate\u2019s performance on the self-assessment exam does not indicate how they will perform on the actual BOC exam.<\/p>\n

Can the questions on the SAE be shared with others?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is prohibited to use SAEs in group settings or as part of structured exam preparation programs. The SAE is meant for individual practice only.
